MOORESVILLE, N.C. (JUNE 19, 2017) - Larson Marks Racing and Shane Stewart waited out the weather to finish just outside of the top-five Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D. with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
Stewart qualified ninth in Flight A of time trials Friday and started fifth in his heat race. He advanced one spot to finish fourth and transfer into the 40-lap main event. Just after the red-flag was displayed for another competitor on Lap 4, the rain started to fall and cars were directed back to the pit area.
After a two-hour rain delay, cars returned to the track and racing resumed. The Bixby, Okla., native restarted in 12th and survived several restarts to gain six more positions and earn a sixth-place finish.
Saturday's event at Red River Valley Speedway was postponed due to rain and was rescheduled for Saturday, August 19.
"It's a bummer the rain came in like it did on Friday," said Stewart. "The track was so great up until that point but after the rain stopped and the track was reworked, it was one lane and hard to pass. Thankfully the Outlaws stuck it out though and we were able to complete the night and salvage a top-10."
The Larson Marks Racing team will be back in action Tuesday, June 20 at Granite City Speedway in Sauk Rapids, Minn.
